Houzez shows listings by agent using its own agent profiles, and MLSImport does not create those profiles from the MLS feed. You create the agent in Houzez, then attach listings to it on the import task. Once that link exists, the agent page and the agent widgets work as they normally do.
Two separate settings are involved and they are often confused: one decides which listings are imported, the other decides which Houzez agent owns them.
Before you start
Create the agent under Agents in Houzez, with the name, photo and contact details you want visitors to see. The import task can only attach listings to an agent that already exists.
Attaching listings to a Houzez agent
- Open the import task under Import Tasks.
- In Import Parameters, pick the agent in Select Agent. The dropdown lists your published Houzez agents and agencies.
- Save the task with Update.
- Run the import. Every property this task creates is assigned to that agent and displays their info box.
Expected result: the agent’s page lists those properties, and the property page shows that agent in the sidebar.
The agent is assigned when a property is first created, so changing Select Agent does not move properties that are already on the site. Either re-import the task or reassign the existing properties with a bulk edit.
Importing only one agent’s listings
The ListAgentKey and ListAgentMlsId filters on the import task decide which listings are fetched from the MLS. They have nothing to do with which Houzez agent is displayed.
The two settings are used together: filter by the MLS agent identifier to bring in that person’s listings, and pick the matching Houzez agent in Select Agent so those listings display under their profile. One task per agent is the clean arrangement.
Filtering by the MLS agent on the front end
The MLS listing agent details arrive as ordinary imported fields, for compliance display. They are values on the property, not Houzez agent profiles, so a Houzez search control cannot filter on them out of the box.
To make one searchable, map the MLS field into a Houzez field that the search already reads, using the Property Detail Field (post meta) column in Select Import fields. The listing agent name is usually the more useful field to map, since visitors search names rather than identifiers.
For an office wide page listing several agents’ properties, use the Houzez listings widget that lets you pick agents by hand rather than trying to build the filter from MLS data. It reads the agent assignment you already made on the import task.
Frequently asked questions
Can MLSImport create a Houzez agent profile for every agent in the feed?
No. Agent profiles are yours to create, because they carry the photo, biography and contact details your site presents, none of which the feed supplies in a form you would want published as is.
Can one import task assign different agents to different listings?
No. An import task assigns one agent to everything it imports. Split into one task per agent, each filtered by that agent’s MLS identifier.
The agent page is empty although the properties are assigned. Why?
Check the properties are published rather than drafts, and that the agent selected on the task is the same profile you are viewing. An import task set to import as draft produces properties that no public page lists.
What happens to an agent’s listings when they leave the office?
Nothing automatic. Stop the import task, then reassign or remove the properties. Once the listings leave the MLS the daily cleanup removes them according to your status settings.
