Your MLSImport username is the account name on your mlsimport.com account. It is not your email address, and it is not your WordPress login. The field in the plugin says so directly: MLSImport.com Username (not your email).
Entering an email address in that field is the single most common reason the plugin reports that it cannot connect to your account.
Creating the account
The account is created on mlsimport.com, not inside WordPress. The plugin never creates one for you.
- Go to the pricing page on mlsimport.com and start a subscription. The first 30 days are free.
- Complete the signup form. The username you choose there is the one the plugin will ask for.
- Watch for the welcome email. It confirms the account and states the username in the message body.
The connection step of the Setup Wizard has a Create My Account button next to the credential fields, which opens the pricing page in a new tab. It is there for exactly this: people who reach the plugin before they have an account.
Finding your username later
- The welcome email. It contains the line “Your username is” followed by the name itself. Search your inbox for mlsimport.com.
- Your account area on mlsimport.com. Log in at the My Account page and it is shown with your account details.
- Support. If the email is gone and you cannot log in, open a ticket from the site and we will confirm it.
If you log in to mlsimport.com with your email address, that does not mean your username is your email. Most login forms accept either. The plugin accepts only the username.
Three different logins, and which goes where
Setting up MLSImport involves three sets of credentials, and mixing them up costs people more time than anything else in setup.
- Your WordPress login. Gets you into wp-admin. The plugin never asks for it.
- Your mlsimport.com account. Username and password, entered in MLSImport.com Username (not your email) and MLSImport.com Password. This is your subscription.
- Your MLS credentials. A server token, or a client ID and secret, issued by your MLS or its API platform. Nothing to do with mlsimport.com.
The plugin checks the second and third separately and reports on them separately, which is why the connection screen shows two status banners rather than one.
Type the username rather than pasting it. A trailing space picked up by a copy is invisible on screen and reads as a different username to the server.
Frequently asked questions
I entered my email and password and it says I am not connected.
Replace the email with your username. That message appears whenever the account login is rejected, and an email address in the username field is rejected every time, even though the same email works for logging in to the website.
Can I change my username?
The username is fixed when the account is created. Your name, email address, and password can be updated from your account area, but the username itself cannot. If you need it changed, ask support.
Do I need to keep the account connected after setup is finished?
Yes. The plugin re-authenticates in the background every time it syncs, which is hourly by default. If the subscription lapses or the password changes without being updated in the plugin, imports and syncing stop.
Is my mlsimport.com password the same as my MLS password?
No, and they are used in different places. The mlsimport.com password is your subscription login. What your MLS issues is usually a token or a client ID and secret rather than a password, and it goes in the MLS credential fields further down the same screen.
