MLS Grid is not one of the RESO Web API servers MLSImport connects to. If your MLS delivers data only through MLS Grid, the plugin cannot import from it today, and no setting changes that.
This page explains why, and what to check before you conclude that MLS Grid is your only route.
Check whether MLS Grid is really your only option
Several MLSs publish through more than one platform, and members often hear about the one their board mentions first. Before writing off the connection, confirm what your MLS actually offers.
- Open your MLS on the RESO certification directory and read the Web API Server line.
- Ask your MLS directly which delivery platforms they support for a member or broker website feed, and name them: Trestle, Bridge, Spark, Paragon, Rapattoni.
- If any of those is available to your account, request that one. It works with MLSImport now, with no development on either side.
This is worth ten minutes. A board that appears as MLS Grid in one directory listing sometimes also has a Bridge or Trestle route open to members.
Ask the question by platform name rather than asking whether they support MLSImport. MLS data teams recognise Trestle, Bridge, and Spark immediately, and often do not know plugin names at all.
Why MLS Grid is a different case from an unsupported server
When an MLS runs a certified server we have not connected to before, we integrate it for active clients at no extra cost, usually within a couple of days. MLS Grid is not that case.
MLS Grid’s terms require listing images to be copied and re-served from your own infrastructure rather than loaded from the MLS image source. MLSImport does the opposite by design: photos stay on the MLS side and are never copied into your media library, which is what keeps a large import from filling your disk and your backups.
Meeting the MLS Grid image requirement means image replication infrastructure, per site, with running costs that scale with the number of listings and photos. That is a different product, not a connector setting.
If MLS Grid is genuinely the only route
- Tell us the MLS name. We track which markets ask, and demand is what moves this.
- Ask your MLS whether a second delivery method can be enabled for your account. Boards sometimes add one on request.
- Do not start a subscription expecting it to work. Nothing in the plugin will connect to an MLS Grid feed, and we would rather tell you that now.
If you are choosing an MLS to build against and have a choice of boards, check the delivery platform before you commit to the market. Changing platform later means a new application and a new approval cycle.
Frequently asked questions
Will MLS Grid support be added?
Not as a straight connector. The blocker is the image replication requirement, which conflicts with how MLSImport handles photos across every other feed. If that changes, or if enough markets leave no alternative, we will revisit it.
My MLS certification page names MLS Grid. Is that final?
No. The certification entry records the server that was certified, and a board can still offer another delivery route to members. Ask your MLS which platforms are available for your account before deciding.
Can I import MLS Grid data some other way, like a CSV?
No. MLSImport reads the RESO Web API and has no file import. A one time file would also not sync, so listings would not update or come down when they leave the market.
I already paid for MLS Grid access. Can you use it?
Not currently, and we would not want you paying for a subscription that cannot connect. Contact us with your MLS name and we will confirm whether any other route exists for that board.
