Your MLS is not in the list

The MLS box is fed by your MLSImport account. Why it comes up empty, and the cache step most people skip.

The MLS box on MLS Import Settings is not a fixed list inside the plugin. It is fetched from your MLSImport account, so an empty box or one that cannot find your MLS is nearly always an account state rather than a problem with the MLS credentials you are holding.

Two things have to be true before any MLS name appears: an active MLSImport subscription, and the plugin signed in with your MLSImport account username.

Before you start

  1. You have registered on mlsimport.com. The trial counts as active for this purpose.
  2. You know your MLSImport account username. It is not your email address, and the field on the settings screen says so.

Fix it in order

  1. Confirm the subscription is active. Sign in at mlsimport.com and check the subscription there. A subscription that has not been started, or one that has lapsed, produces exactly this symptom.
  2. Clear the cached list. Go to MLS Import Settings, open the Tools tab and click Clear Plugin Cached Data.
  3. Re-enter your account details. Back on the MLS/RESO Api Options tab, type your MLSImport.com Username (not your email) and MLSImport.com Password again, then save.
  4. Search the box again. Start typing your MLS name and pick it from the suggestions, then save.

Expected result: the top banner reads You are connected to your MlsImport account! and the MLS box offers suggestions as you type.

Pro Tip

Step two is the one people skip, and it is the reason a subscription that went active an hour ago still shows nothing. The MLS list is cached for 24 hours, and saving your credentials again does not clear that cache. Only Clear Plugin Cached Data does.

What the box tells you

The box is a search field, not a dropdown you scroll. Type a few letters of the MLS name and matching entries appear beneath it. Nothing appears until the list has loaded, so an unresponsive box means the list is empty rather than that your MLS is missing from it.

One entry is always present when the list loads: My MLS is not on this list. If you can see that option and nothing else matches your search, the list did load and your MLS genuinely is not on it yet.

When the plugin cannot reach the API at all, the box carries the error message in place of the MLS names. That is a connection or account problem, and no amount of searching will find your MLS until it is resolved.

When the MLS is still missing

With an active subscription, cleared cache and a green account banner, an MLS that still does not appear needs adding on our side. That is a normal request, not an unusual one, and it is how every new board gets onto the list.

Tell us the exact MLS name, which RESO Web API provider serves it, for example Bridge or Trestle, and whether your data access application with that provider is already approved. We test the connection before switching it on.

Pro Tip

Your provider credentials play no part in any of this. They are used at a later step, after an MLS is selected and saved. A perfectly valid client ID and secret sitting in front of you does not put your MLS in the list, and a missing MLS says nothing about whether those credentials work.

If it does not work

  1. The account banner stays red. The username or the password is wrong. Sign in on mlsimport.com with the same pair to check them, and remember the username is not the email address.
  2. The list loads but stops at a few entries. You are seeing a cached partial list from before your account was ready. Clear the cache and reload the screen.
  3. The box shows a message instead of MLS names. That message is the API’s own reply. If it mentions the token or authorisation, the account details are the problem.
  4. You picked an MLS but the field looks empty after saving. The visible box holds the name and a hidden field holds the identifier. Reload the settings screen and confirm the name is still there.

Frequently asked questions

Does the plugin work at all without a subscription?

It installs and activates, and the settings screens open. Nothing that needs the API works, which includes the MLS list, the connection test, the field list and every import.

I picked the wrong MLS. Can I change it?

Yes. Search the box again, pick the correct one and save. Saving clears the cached connection test and the field metadata, so the plugin re-tests and re-reads the fields for the new MLS.

Can one site connect to two MLSs?

No. One MLS connection per WordPress install. Two feeds means two installs, each with its own subscription.

My MLS was activated for me. Why do I still not see it?

Because your copy of the list is up to 24 hours old. Clear the plugin cached data from the Tools tab and the next load fetches the current list.

  1. Creating your MLSImport account and what username means
  2. Connecting your MLS in the wizard
  3. Verifying your MLS connection
  4. My MLS runs a server you do not support yet
  5. The connection to your MLS fails

Send us your MLS name and provider and we will tell you whether it needs activating on our side.
